Dewatering Plan

A dewatering plan, called a Dewatering Control Plan (DCP) in Utah, is a written design to keep polluted and silt-filled water from being directly discharged into our streams, rivers, and lakes through the storm drain system or channels. Dewatering is much more than simply pumping water out; it requires planning, logistics, and experience.

Tired of trying to comply with the technical nuances of dewatering? Prefer to spend your time getting the job done, not focusing on environmental regulations?

You may discover dewatering is extremely frustrating with all its technicalities because these are skills and knowledge that you would normally not possess or even want to possess. In addition to simply pumping out water, you need to predict fluctuating groundwater levels over time, perform quantitative analyses for things like pH and suspended solids, select and utilize appropriate treatment BMPs (like filtration media and types of flocculant), and manage discharge rates that do not exceed UPDES permit limits. Let our trained “Storm Troopers” handle this for you.

What is Dewatering and why should I care?

Dewatering is the strategies and actions used to remove unwanted groundwater or surface water from a construction site. Water can undermine the stability of foundations and other construction activity and must be eliminated from the area to allow for safe and stable excavation or building. Improperly managed dewatering can lead to severe environmental pollution (sediment, chemicals), triggering costly UPDES permit violations, substantial fines from the UDEQ, and significant project delays, while also damaging Utah's vital water resources.

Let us help you.

Accena SWPPP Services, with our trained and drilled Storm Troopers, have the expertise, tools, resources, and affordability to competently provide solutions to the common frustrations builders, developers, and excavators face regarding dewatering plans and services.

Save Time and Expenses

Our Dewatering Control Plan (DCP) and permit preparation decreases the hours your personnel will spend trying to learn about dewatering regulations and then striving to compose an acceptable technical plan. Effective dewatering plans and execution minimize the expensive fines and re-work imposed due to lack of compliance, increasing your budget savings down the line.

Reduced Scrutiny from Regulators

Engaging Accena Storm Troopers to assist with your dewatering is proactive mitigation against regulation concerns. Ongoing electronic record keeping and the relationships we’ve built with the Dept. of Environmental Quality, shows you are focused on compliance. The resulting credibility raises your reputation with the DEQ and potentially reduces regulator oversight.

Stop Project Delays

We facilitate dewatering compliance. Our dedicated approach to drafting your DCP and submitting your NOI facilitates faster approval of your dewatering permit — no delays to excavation work — and if challenges arise, our Accena Storm Troopers rapidly respond to reduce unnecessary time lost to your build schedule.

Real Time Problem Solving

When dewatering unexpectedly goes wrong, such as increased inflow or a change in water quality, our SWPPP Storm Troopers have the knowledge and training to resolve the issues and recommend quick solutions. We adjust dewatering BMPs as

Easy BMP Selection and Installation

Our BMP Storm Trooper Deployment Unit is trained and drilled to assess and implement the best dewatering BMPs, from sock filters and sedimentation tanks to turbidity barriers, fulfilling your dewatering water quality requirements and flow rates without adding to your manpower.

Consolidated Record-Keeping

The exacting record-keeping required under the Dewatering Permit (DCP, monitoring reports, maintenance logs) creates a significant administrative burden. We handle all paperwork and submission so that everything is filed appropriately and on time, ensuring all records are accurate, timely, and readily accessible, eliminating the need for your personnel to keep track of another thing.
